If you give up, you're basically giving in to whatever it is that you're up against - do you know what I mean? However, if you give in, you're not necessarily giving up. I guess if I had to choose between only those 2 options I'd have to choose "Giving in", because sometimes giving in is a way of eventually getting what you want further down the road, whereas giving up is bluntly chucking the whole thing away.
