Better, but with anxiety

I really must have freaked myself out about this editing thing. I wrote two articles this afternoon and nearly had a panic attack when I pressed submit on the second one. I didn't want to return to the homepage and find that I had an edit waiting for me already. I didn't of course. No worries (yet).

Since that job was taking its toll, I decided to go to one of my other jobs. That didn't help. I kept looking at the article requests seeing things like "must be thoroughly researched" and "Please write in formal business speech on [some really complicated law topic]" for guess what? $2.50 a pop... for 400-500 words. Normally I would at least try (maybe not the law article!) but I just couldn't get myself to do it.

I have plenty of ideas of articles I can write and publish on my own, so I think I should stick to that for a little while, doing only minimum amounts of articles at my regular jobs. Only bad part is that those make just a fraction of the $1-$5 I can make for those other suckers. I can make more money on my blog ads than royalties from Triond, but I still like the ability of writing what I want, when I want.

Money? Integrity? Dilemma.

Hello Terri:

I'm coming over from blog catalog, and wanted to say, "Hello."

I'm a freelance writer, as well. I definitely understand the low-balling going on within the writing realm. I tend to stay away from guru and other similar sites because of the fact that each article tends to be awarded to the lowest bidder.

Quality has a price, in regard to everything in life, and writing should not be an exception. I just wish these seekers would realize the age-old philosophy, "you get what you pay for."

I look forward to reading more, Terri.

Thanks for stopping by! I am beginning to realize that I may have to start holding out for better jobs, otherwise I'm just going to stay frustrated.
