The Poetry of Yoga, Volume 2 -- Out 12.12.12

The second volume of The Poetry of Yoga is coming out soon. One of my poems was featured in Volume 1. Although I'm not in Volume 2, I thought I would let everyone know about it. Check out The Poetry of Yoga for ordering information. Here is the info about the volume:

The Poetry of Yoga
Two Years and Two Volumes
300+ Yogi Poets from 19 Countries

The Poetry of Yoga has been described by world renowned yoga instructor and activist Shiva Rea as “A great victory... through which we get to see the somatic power of consciousness."
Yoga Journal calls the anthology,
"Perfect for solitary contemplation... and full of yogic wisdom."

A ground-breaking project, The Poetry of Yoga has expanded the literary tradition of yoga to include the cultural perspective of the 21st century. A modern day collection compiled and edited by artist, poet, and yogi HAWAH, the two volumes are distilled from over 2,000 pages of poetry that was submitted online from 19 countries.

Hawah’s vision was to help kick-start a modern day renaissance of age-old, and now deceased, master poets such as Hafiz, Mirabai, and Rumi; hence reclaiming the mystical expression that defines so many yoga practitioners around the world today. The only book of its kind, The Poetry of Yoga has harnessed and created an important platform for a new body of work that reflects on how yoga continues to shift the landscape of human civilization. The other part of the mission is to raise money for the non-profit organization One Common Unity, which teaches non-violence and conflict resolution through the arts to inner-city youth. Fifty percent of book sales are donated to benefit their pioneering programs and initiatives.

The Two Volumes are filled with Internationally Celebrated
Master Teachers and Best-selling Authors/ Musicians including:
Hemalyaa Behl, Douglas Brooks, Jeffrey Cohen, Seane Corn, Krishna Das, Angela Farmer, Judith Lasater, Lilias Folan, Ana Forrest, Sharon Gannon, Joseph Goldstein, Dr. James Gordon, Judyth Hill, Faith Hunter, Alanna Kaivalya, Victor Van Kooten, Prem Lakhoti, Tias Little, Leza Lowitz, Chuck Miller, Jason Nemer, David Newman, Aadil Palkhivala, Panda, Climbing Poetree, Swami Ramananda, Shiva Rea, Erich Schiffmann, John Schumacher, Cameron Shayne, Sianna Sherman, Michael Stone, Dave Stringer, Rod Stryker, Doug Swenson, MC Yogi, and many more!

Praise for The Poetry Of Yoga

Inspiring, wide ranging, humorous, thought provoking, full of wonderful imagery offering a visceral portrayal of Yoga practice: physical, emotional and spiritual. This ground-breaking volume defies simple summary. A book to cherish and revisit again and again–at home or in class.”
Jane Sill, Editor, Yoga and Health Magazine

To have yoga without poetry is like having marriage without love.  Poetry is the essence of beauty in language.  I am grateful for HawaH having put together this volume to inspire yoga students with the beauty of meter and verse.”
Aadil Palkhivala, Master Yoga Teacher

“Hafiz, Mirabai, Rumi, and Gibran never fail to slow speedy minds and wake closed hearts. And now, thanks to this Poetry of Yoga—destined to become a favorite gift book for our community—these two ancient lineages reawaken one another. These writers’ words are offered as salve for the soul. May it be of benefit!”
Waylon Lewis, Editor-in-Chief, Elephant Journal

These beautiful poems speak to and are expressions of the very heart of yoga.”
Kelly Birch, Editor, Yoga Therapy Today (International Association of Yoga Therapists)

This book is the soul ignited!”
– Sianna Sherman

“This collection of poems is a beautiful expression of the collective consciousness of the modern day yoga culture.” ~ YOGANONYMOUS

As I started to scan through the pages, I felt like I had won the lottery! Like a beautiful asana, each page contains words perfectly aligned to lift my soul. I had been given the gift of a book of yoga poems that I know will provide inspiration for my life and my yoga classes for many years to come.”
The Daily Downward Dog

This book is a link that paints an important picture and give us that experience of looking beyond appearances and feeling that profound parallel between the yogic experience and poetry.”
