I'm writing this post from my phone, and it's not really my choice to do so. The home internet has been out for more than 24 hours now. The whole situation is relatively avoidable, but toally out of my hands. The cable company is forcing the account holder (not me) to get new eqipment they do not want. They believe prices will go up (most likely they will). They will not have their arm twisted to do what they don't want to do. Since that letter about new equipment arrived, there have been a few short outages. Nothing like this though.
And before anyone tells me that i'm just addicted to being connected, understand that's not it. Those addicted to being online constantly check email, social media and other unimportant activities. I can do all this no problem with the 4g on my phone. Without a connection for my laptop, I can't work. Yes, I can write offline. But no, I can't turn in work or grab new work without a solid connection.
Public Wi-Fi. That's the solution. Maybe for checking email and other minor things, but would you really take the risk of logging into accounts thar have your personal financial information over a public, unsecured connection? I don't like my odds, so the risk is too great for me. Remember when it comes to computers, i'm a jinx. I have a long history of crashing computers and getting viruses. So no thanks
With all of this, I would still find it a minor inconvenience except for the fact that those who won't deal with this issue are the same people who shame me for not having a good enough job. I say "you can't even apply for work without internet these days" which only stokes the argument that I should stop dreaming and start earning part time minimum wage.
Pretty sure i'm done ranting now. It's just frustrating that the people who surround me are the ones who never want to listen.

Pleae excuse the double post. First time posting from the phone 😉
Posting from a phone isn't fun. Did that a few times and made more than a few mistakes. I ended up getting a mobile hotspot as a backup and for use when traveling. (My old phone doesn't work as a mobile hotspot.)
Hope things work out soon, or at least eventually.
Oh... they probably will work out, but I may have to get more proactive around here.
