Some Literary Waves

Quite a lot has been going on in the indie publishing world as of late, with a couple of these things personally affecting my titles. First, the good news: Kindle Worlds is now making its titles available through Kindle Unlimited. Now if you are a KU subscriber, you can read Melody of Love and Haunting Melody for free! Just make sure to read at least 10% of the book so everyone gets paid. ;-)

Second, the not so good news: Inktera is temporarily suspending distribution of titles coming from Draft2Digital, so my books won't be listed there for awhile. Actually no one's books will--Inktera is revamping the whole brand, so until that's complete, their catalog is not available. Full disclosure: I never had any sales from this channel anyway, so it's not really going to affect my bottom line when it comes to royalties.

NaNoWriMo: If you're following my progress on the site, you know that it's kicking my butt this year, for real. I should be sailing closing to 30k right now, and I haven't even hit 20k. But I'm not giving up. I just have to pour some extra fuel on the fire and see how far it goes. No matter what, I'll still post an exclusive excerpt of the novel at the end of November on Patreon.

I hope your weekend will be filled with writing. I know mine will be!

Organized and Feelin' Fine...

I'm totally organized to take on the rest of the year, including projects, freelance work, and other fun stuff. And it helps to have a few good tools to stay organized--my new Sarah Scribbles calendar and organizer are keeping me motivated (and entertained).

The new Fiverr gig has been up and running for a few days now, so if you need blog editing services, you can check it out. Also, Fiverr has introduced an Available Now option that lets you tell customers you are online and ready to work. So, I've decided to hold something like office hours for the editing gig as well as my book spotlight gig--I'll try to stay available for at least an hour or two a week. It will probably be at different times, depending on what's scheduled for that week, so I'll announce my availability on Twitter.

The Patreon page is coming along. I want to get it all snazzy and looking good, so the page will not launch until November 1. I know. The same day NaNoWriMo starts. What am I thinking?! Anyway, I'll be providing more information once it launches. I'll also be providing more information on this year's NaNo project once I figure out what it will be.

I'm not sure if I announced that Seeing What Develops is now available for purchase on a range of platforms, but if I didn't, here I go. The book is now available as an ebook through Amazon, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, Scribd, Inktera, Playster, 24Symbols and outlets that sell books for Tolino. I'm still working to update my book page on the blog, and that's why it's hidden at the moment. It should be back up soon.

Have a happy weekend full of writing!

Unfolding Life Now on Inktera and Scribd

The roll out of new places to buy Unfolding Life keeps moving along. Now you can purchase the ebook edition of Unfolding Life from Inktera for $2.99! Scribd members can also download the book as part of their monthly subscription.

Getting a wider distribution is an interesting lesson in independent publishing. I've talked with some authors that say some of these not-Amazon sales channels are great and others say they never see a single sale from. Still, it never hurts to get your title in front of more people. I'm currently using Draft2Digital to do this expanded distribution, and it's going well so far. I hope they are able to add other channels soon so that I can--dare I say it?--rule the world.

Camp NaNo update: I'm behind. No surprise about that. As much as I like the story I'm working on, I just have a lot of distractions. And let's be honest, these are distractions I can avoid, but don't. I should, but when you find an episode of American Pickers that you haven't seen yet, there's NO WAY you can write through it. I wish this wasn't a true-life example of my kind of distraction, but sadly it is (Side note: not distracted from other writing projects--just this one!). Anyway, it is still a living, breathing piece of writing. It will get done. Just maybe not until mid-August. And that's totally cool with me.
