Rain, Rain It's Okay...

April showers have been abundant this year. It's kind of weird when the dark clouds roll in and make it seem like it's almost evening in the middle of the day. It's a great atmosphere for writing though, even if all of the rain can be a bit inconvenient.

I took the weekend off from Camp NaNoWriMo. I didn't necessarily need a break from writing because my mind is still fully focused on the plot, even when I'm away from the computer. In fact, I'm less than 5k away from meeting my goal! I mostly took the weekend off to work on that all-important Next Step, whatever that may be. I explored more marketing avenues for Unfolding Life and worked on the early stages of my marketing plan for the trilogy. I don't want to be caught off guard with the next project, so the earlier I get started, the smoother the transition from unpublished manuscript to published novel will go.

I am still looking for more Amazon reviews for Unfolding Life, so if you want a free PDF of it to review, just let me know by dropping me a line through the contact form on the bottom of the sidebar. The more reviews I get, the more advertising options I will have with the discounted/free ebook newsletters.

So what are you working on this week?

It's raining

I love writing in the rain. Makes it seem a little more worthwhile, since there's really nothing else you can do in the rain. Except play in it. But I've never had the privilege. I was always told it wasn't healthy as a kid. Then in college I couldn't get my friends to join me when half the school was out playing in the rain. One day I'll play in the rain. Actually, I'm so obsessed with the idea I might just sit down and write something about it. Oooh... I could put it in the play idea I want to write. Score!

Sorry... when I get a great idea it's best to publicly ramble. Everything else is good. Today is a slower writing day, but some work is still getting done. Tomorrow I have to kick it back up in high gear because it's May. It's May already? I hate how time flies. Pretty soon I'll be moving again and trying to answer all of those big life questions like what I should do, how I should do it, and whether it's worth the bother. Usually it is.

Not a good start

I slept in this morning. About and hour and a half more than I needed to. And today was the day that I planned to get back into work... the good paying work. But I couldn't really help sleeping in. There were some pretty wild dreams going through my head. Some maybe I can use for a story, so I had to let them play out and see what was what.

A seriously cool part of one dream was that I was staying in a hotel where the gimmick was you could sleep right on the beach... so they had waves and sand as the floor covering instead of carpet or hard wood. It was really funny. That one is the only one I remember really well... and I know that it ended with sand sticking on my feet and me sitting up in bed going "Oh no!" once I found my glasses and looked at the clock. What a way to start the morning. I blame it on the rain...

I feel like pulling out my hair. I have been alone in this apartment since Tuesday and I'm going a little nutty. It's raining outside, so I've been avoiding leaving as it is. And work has come to a standstill--which for once is a good thing. But I really wanted to work until Friday night, not Wednesday night. But I can deal. I won't be back to take any assignments again until next Tuesday, so it's a good thing. Just really boring.

I have almost everything packed. The only thing left is the clothes, computer, and of course season 2 of Bones. I have to have something watch while eating lunch, right? And I got to see one of my favorite I Love Lucy eps today: "Lucy is Enciente." I love that one! CSI is on tonight, and so is ER. What have I got ot complain about? I can sing as loud as I want, walk around naked (although I don't)... I'll need to get used to living alone as it is. I won't have a roommate to live with in my next place. I don't want one. I loved having one while I was here in college, but I think it's time to get going on my own. Someone want to point me in the right direction?

The rain that is coming down would be WONDERFUL if I hadn't been so unprepared for it yesterday. I don't believe in using umbrellas-- it's just too much of a hassle when so many others with umbrellas are trying to pass you. Usually, I wear a hat and a jacket. Well, yesterday was 80 something so when I left for school, I didn't have a hat OR a jacket. And it was a big mistake. I had to sit through two classes with my clothes dripping wet. And that was after I had tried to dry myself off. I was so cold by the end of the day it felt like winter to me. I never get cold. And watch, today I'll be prepared for rain and that's when it will stop completely. It needs to anyway-- places are flooding and it's causing stress on everyone. But don't get me wrong-- on the right day, at the right time, I still adore walking and laughing and getting caught in the rain (but no, I do NOT like pina coladas!).

There was finally some rain today, and it was beautiful. I'm not trying to get all tree-hugger on anybody, I just really like watching the rain. Even when it pours so hard that you cannot see through it, it's a wonderfully calming experience.

Right now I'm reading Message in a Bottle by Nicholas Sparks. True, it's one of the older ones, but I hadn't read it yet. And it's predictably Sparks. It's filled with wonder, love, mistudnerstanding, then I'm assuming reconciliation. I'm not quite finished with the book yet. But I'm sure it'll follow close to that. I like reading books with predictable outcomes sometimes. It's the kind of mindless summer reading I enjoy. Not that it doesn't bring up important points--that's not what I mean by mindless. What I mean is that I know what I'm getting into when I pick it up, so I don't have to spend time sorting out my feeling about it in my mind. Over here, it makes sense. Trust me.
